Local design guide: Where to get your stationery fix

Love a good dose of well-designed, quality stationery? Here are four places online where you can your local artisanal stationery fix stat:

1. Nala Designs

Inspired by Malaysia’s rich heritage and melting pot of cultures, Nala’s collection of stationery has a distinctively local-inspired design that is infused with modern geometric motifs. Its colourful, unique range of products have extended from just stationery to include accessories and home ware. We especially love their Angpow packet collections—Pretty in Peranakan, Just Jewels and Paper Petals—a wonderful matrimony of traditional and contemporary.

2. The Alphabet Press

The Alphabet Press brings back an old school form of printing by way of letterpress, using 1960s German vintage presses to create deep impressions on premium paper. It’s a labour-intensive process, but bears beautiful results, adding a unique, tactile touch to their products. They make delightfully quaint postcards, among other stationery, perfect for gifting alongside a personal message.

3. Mossery

Simple, fun, and functional notebooks ground the core of Mossery’s stationery collection, and rightly so too. Whether you’re into bold pops of graphics, classic geometric prints, or timeless solid hues, there’s a little something for everyone. Find pocket notebooks, notepads and planners in a great variety of designs, made for your everyday communications, thoughts and ideas.

4. Pebble Paper Design

A fairly new name to the game, Pebble Paper Design quickly established itself as a main player in the scene since its inception in May 2015. Known for their beautiful notebooks with lovely, whimsical designs, the nifty pocket-sized ones are ideal for scribbles and sketches on the go. They’ve recently released their second collection of notebooks themed “Fruit Garden”—a juicy quartet of delectable cover designs.
