The most over-the-top beauty looks from the Met Gala 2019

No amount of research, hints, and sneak peeks from this year’s Met Gala theme (“Camp: Notes on Fashion”) could prepare us for the next-level extravagance on the red carpet of the above-mentioned fashion event that went down this morning. Celebrities descended (or ascended, for some) upon the steps of New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art in the snazziest, head-turning and certainly most jaw-dropping looks that they might not have even worn in the lives.

To kick off the evening, Lady Gaga, naturally, stole some of the limelight in not one, but four major looks coupled with a beauty look that did not disappoint (take a closer look at her foil lashes that may or may not have induced accelerated heartbeats from us—can you imagine if one of those upper falsies fail to hold properly from a lack of adhesive?!)

Other beauty stunners on the red carpet that put the capital C in camp include Hailee Steinfeld (faux freckles, bubblegum pink blush and that green eyeshadow), Lily Collins who rocked sky-high lashes that matched the height of her floral-dotted hairdo, and Sophie Turner‘s frosty look comprising glitter-swept tresses and a smoky eye (look at how it made her baby blues pop). Honourary (hair) mentions go to Ashley Graham for her slide-swarmed long ponytail, Ciara‘s larger-than-life fro, and Lucy Boynton‘s beautiful pastel locks.

Below, the most mind-blowing beauty looks from the Met Gala 2019:
