Charlotte Gainsbourg for Nars is what you need for that effortless, Parisian-chic beauty look

The French girl beauty formula (as we know it) usually includes unstudied hair and slept-in makeup that looks like it’d take under 10 minutes to achieve—read: effortlessness is key. When we talk about a French beauty muse who’s got that formula down pat, actress and musician Charlotte Gainsbourg comes to mind for her undeniable style and creative spirit. The daughter of two legendary icons, French singer Serge Gainsbourg and British actress Jane Birkin, Charlotte is an inspiration in her own right—making her the perfect muse for François Nars’ latest makeup collection.
“We met for the first time on set for the shoot of a personal project of mine, but really, I feel like I have known her for years,” said François Nars. “If you listen to her music, it is vulnerable and powerful and very real. There is so much to connect with there. Meeting her in person felt like a formality!”
The Charlotte Gainsbourg for Nars collection is pretty much what you need to ace the effortless beauty look—one that resembles Gainsbourg’s signature look of smouldering eyes and modern accents. All the shades from the lineup were developed by the artist herself, citing inspiration from her personal memories of London and Paris.
“I couldn’t go toward something that was opposite of me, so it had to be quite natural,” says Gainsbourg. “In the end colors were sort of obvious for me, nothing flashy, just tinted. Emotional if possible, my references had to do with actresses in films, so a natural cheek, redness from crying, running – things that move me.”

Standouts from the collection include the new Hydrating Glow Tint, a weightless, sheer gel-cream for flawless, natural-looking skin; the limited-edition Lip Tint for bee-stung lips; and three new shades of Kohliner to intensify your eyes in a jiffy (the moss green Cours Du Soir is our favourite). Alongside that, the packaging juxtaposes feminine contours and masculine elements with a mix of military khaki and gold lettering. For an added luxe touch, the weight and feel of the packaging refrences traditional French blotting paper that’s used to set fresh ink on handwritten notes—a truly artistic collaboration in every way.
Charlotte Gainsbourg for Nars will be available in May 2017 onwards at Nars Cosmetics Suria KLCC, Pavilion KL, Mid Valley Megamall, and Parkson Gurney Plaza.
