East meets West: Chanel Le Blanc makeup is a perfect harmony of colours

Chanel’s latest makeup collection Énergies Et Puretés takes on a contrast of colours that’s quite unlike any other from its past ranges. Chanel Global Creative Makeup and Colour Designer Lucia Pica was inspired by two opposite sensations that come together in virtual harmony. One of her inspirations is the  blank canvas of traditional hand-woven Japanese paper, Washi, and how its transparent texture can be shaped into a multitude of possibilities. This translates perfectly for the complexion via ivory, silver and nude.

But of course, no Chanel makeup collection is replete without a smidgen of colour. A shock of chroma upon the blank canvas is decoded with an artistic expression—Pica cites Eastern pop culture (K-pop!) that often comes with a dash of eccentricity and an extensive scale of colours for the lips, cheeks, and nails. Spot shades of intense coral, strawberry, electro pink and a touch of Art Deco inspired pastel turquoise from Chanel Énergies Et Puretés.

Our favourites include the Plissé Lumière de Chanel, a versatile highlighter that has a pleated Washi design and gives a natural golden glow; two Les 4 Ombres eyeshadow palettes inspired by the nuances of Asian gardens; and a range of vivid lip colours from milky raspberry to a vivacious red.

Chanel Énergies Et Puretés is available at all Chanel Fragrance & Beauty Boutiques and Chanel counters at all leading departmental stores.
