Emilia Clarke is Clinique’s first celebrity ambassador

The bubbly Game of Thrones star is now Clinique’s new Global Brand Ambassador—the first time in the 50-year old brand’s history that an A-lister has been appointed as an ambassador. An avid fan of the brand, Clarke seems like a natural choice and a perfect fit. The Last Christmas star fronts the Clinique iD skincare line that offers customised hydration products tailored to specific skin types.

“We didn’t go with a model, we went with somebody with a human personality. She’s got such a human, emotional, real authenticity to her,” says Clinique’s Senior Vice-President and Global Creative Director Elizabeth Nolan, according to WWD.

NikkieTutorials comes out as a trans woman

This weekend was a whirlwind for YouTube (Jeffree Star’s breakup) and the feather that broke the back is NikkieTutorials coming out as a transgender woman over the weekend. In a heartwarming monologue, Nikkie de Jaeger shares her truth in the most candid, beautiful way. She called out the people who blackmailed and threatened to out her, while expressing her pride over her gender history.

Sephora unveils its flagship store in Fahrenheit88

Spoiler: it’s massive. Boasting over 17,000 sq ft of beauty services, 100 beauty brands and over 10,000 products, it’s the biggest store in Asia. The global beauty retailer’s new venture marries the brick and mortar retailing with digital e-commerce for the ultimate shopping experience.

Gold members have exclusive access to the one and only Beauty Loft for a luxurious pamper (we’re talking facials, lip treatments, hand massages and personal shopping!). The flagship also has a huge event space as well as a Sephora University within its walls. As an added bonus, Sephora has introduced eight new brands to its product lineup, including La Mer, Bobbi Brown, SKII, Sulwhasoo, Maison Margiela, Aerin and, for the first time (in stores) in Malaysia, Tatcha and Drunk Elephant.

Dior Beauty launches the Capture Totale range

Dior Beauty is taking skin ageing very seriously with its new skincare range, Capture Totale. After 20 years of stem cell research and development, the house has found a way to restore cellular energy to retain the skin’s youth and vitality. The star of the lineup is the Capture Totale Super Potent Serum, packed with new-gen hyaluronic acid that penetrates 13 times deeper into the skin than regular hyaluronic acid—made for all skin types across all ages.

Gwyneth Paltrow’s lifestyle brand Goop launches a vagina-scented candle

Once again, Gwyneth does as Gwyneth pleases. Apparently, it doesn’t actually smell like vagina (it’s all a farce), but we’ll never know as it is sold out everywhere. Described as a “funny, gorgeous, sexy, and beautifully unexpected scent”, the candle has notes of “geranium, citrusy bergamot, and cedar absolutes juxtaposed with Damask rose and ambrette seed.”

Kat Von D steps down from her namesake brand

The founder and former owner has stepped away from the brand, effective immediately and will no longer be involved with the brand in any capacity. Also effective immediately, the brand’s name is changing to KVD Vegan Beauty. Supposedly, Von D has made the departure to pursue her other creative endeavours like her music and her shoe venture, Von D Shoes. Fans of the brand, don’t fear—your favourites are safe as the brand is maintaining its product lineup and continue to add new vegan and cruelty-free products under the new ownership by Kendo.
