Every year, Laneige gives us a reason to get excited (and wait in anticipation) for its annual “Laneige Meets Fashion” collection — a stylish collaborative lineup that features an artist or designer, typically from South Korea. From last year’s quirky collab with young designer Yoon Choon Ho to the all-pink collectible range with fashion label Lucky Chouette back in 2016, the “Laneige Meets Fashion” collections never disappoint. But this year, the Korean beauty brand is steering away from its annual theme by debuting an all new lineup, Sparkle My Way, in collaboration with South Korean illustrator and visual artist Kim Gunjoo.
Known for his witty drawings and patterns, the up-and-coming designer Kim has an artistic knack for “portraying charm and diversity through his art”, making him a go-to for this new concept. Inspired by Laneige’s beauty concept, Sparkling Beauty, the collection was created to allow every woman shine in their own distinctive way — whether with the help of stellar skincare and makeup or otherwise. Kim has decked five beauty essentials from the Water Bank and Fresh Calming range with sprightly hues of sky blue, pale pink, white and yellow — all aligning with the original colours of both skincare series. Two makeup products, the BB Cushion (Whitening and Pore Control) and new Stained Glasstick also take on the snazzy limited-edition designs.
