If you’ve seen the recent triptych on YSL Beauté’s Instagram, you might just have an inkling of who the brand’s new makeup ambassador is. Those who guess up-and-coming model Kaia Gerber—you aren’t wrong. The 17-year old daughter of Cindy Crawford and Randy Gerber has made waves every season on the runway since her debut last September at New York Fashion Week, and she has just landed her first official gig as a makeup ambassador for YSL Beauté.
“To be the new face of YSL Beauté is an opportunity to write a new story full of fun, colour and makeup. I love the DNA of a brand that is so subversive while being so luxurious and cool!” says Kaia. “I think these days, everything you do has to be measured with a degree of responsibility. If there are people who view me as a role model, I really hope to be able to create positive images and messages that inspire others to feel confident about the way they look, to look after themselves, and basically to be kind to themselves.”
The luxury beauty brand’s message rings loud and clear with this new appointment. With an Instagram following hovering slightly under 4 million and counting, Kaia Gerber is a discernable choice for this role—she’s been lauded for her effortless style and confidence on the runway despite her age. Gerber’s first campaign for YSL Beauté will launch in January 2019, starring as the face of the iconic lipstick, Rouge Volupté Shine along with the Touche Éclat and Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils in the near future.
