May is shaping up to be a big month in beauty—from new brand launches in Malaysia to some very exciting upcoming activations, find out what’s happening this month ahead!
Timothée Chalamet is the latest face of Bleu de Chanel

The latest ambassador for Chanel’s iconic Bleu de Chanel fragrance is a familiar face. French-American actor Timothée Chalamet is best known for his illustrious resume—you’ll likely recognise his breakout role in Luca Guadagnino’s Call Me By Your Name, Greta Gerwig’s Lady Bird and Little Women, Wes Anderson’s The French Dispatch, and most recently, the blockbuster Dune. Though he’s just 27 years old and at the very dawn of his career, Chalamet has already earned himself international acclaim.
That’s what makes him the perfect man to front Bleu de Chanel, a magnetic fragrance that personifies a man with no bounds. It marks Chalamet’s first-ever collaboration with Chanel and his ambassadorship with any fashion or beauty label. In his new role, he’ll be starring in a campaign for the fragrance that will launch in June 2023, as well as a campaign film directed by Martin Scorsese which is set to be released in fall.
The Aesop Women’s Library is coming soon…
If you’ve been looking to expand your reading list, Aesop has you covered. The Women’s Library is the brand’s inaugural project aimed at elevating the voices, stories and experiences of Malaysian women-identifying authors and allies, and it’s opening soon on our shores. Over the course of three days, three Aesop storefronts will be clearing their shelves of products to make way for the literature of six collaborating publishing houses, including Lit Books, Clarity Publishing, Cite Book Garden, Gerak Budaya Kuala Lumpur, Penwings Publishing, and Buku Fixi. The brand has purchased over 6,000 volumes for the library, and there will be over 20 titles available spotlighting four featured writers—Viji Krishnamoorthy, Leong Ching Foon, Hanna Alkaf, and Alina Rastan.
In addition, the Aesop Women’s Library has collaborated with the literary podcast Two Book Nerds Talking for a three-episode run introducing the local initiative, discussing the featured literature and inviting a few key authors to discuss their journeys.
The Aesop Women’s Library will be open at Aesop Pavilion and Aesop The Gardens Mall in Kuala Lumpur from 26 – 28 May and Aesop Gurney Plaza in Penang from 2 – 4 June. Stream the podcast on Spotify and Apple Music. For more information, click malaysia.aesop.com.
