3 Lip looks you can have for an effortless pout this holiday season

The way your lip colour complements your beauty look and even your outfit speaks volumes. There are so many methods you can go about adding some oomph to your lips this festive reason, so take the plunge and prepare to work an enviable pout with these lip trends:

Ombré lips

The biggest K-beauty trend since 2014, gradient or ombré lips are natural-looking and colour-tinted enough to go really well with a knock-your-socks-off outfit this season.

Tip: Use Laneige Two Tone Lip Bar in No. 4 Milk Blurring for this look. Glide the lipstick on your lower lip then turn it upside down before gliding it on your upper lip. This is to apply the bolder hue in the inner part of your upper lip. Purse your lips for the colour to blend well, and use a cotton swab to even out the edges between the two hues.

Gleaming gold lips

Prada SS16‘s gilded lips set tongues wagging this season, serving up plenty of drama and an almost decorative element to the entire look. The trick to pulling it off is to keep your eye and cheek makeup to a minimum here.

Tip: Mix a concentrated gold pigment (such as MAC Cosmetics Pigment in Gold) with clear toned lip gloss and apply it to your lips. Another option is to apply said lip gloss first then dab the pigment directly over your lips using your finger.

Mauve gloss

Purple lipstick might be hard to get away with, and the only purple that’s trending nowadays is a usually a darker eggplant hue. But why not go for a cool, lighter shade for a less-edgy but twice as glamorous look?

Tip: Apply Urban Decay’s Ultimate Ozone Multipurpose Primer Pencil over your lips for a longer colour staying power, then glide on Urban Decay High Revolution High-Color Lipgloss in Bittersweet for a rich violet hue.
