5 Surprising Things You Didnt Know About YSL Beauty’s Libre L’Eau Nue

Here is what we learned during our intimate masterclass with YSL Beauty at the brand’s Libre L’Eau Nue launch.

Libre L’Eau Nue Parfum de Peau is the latest gem to join the YSL Beauty Libre fragrance family, and we’re calling it the scent of the summer! Warm, fresh and floral, it’s a stunning perfume with an equally stunning formulation to match. To celebrate the new launch, we joined YSL Beauty at Anantara Desaru for a three-day getaway, where we got an inside look at the fragrance in an intimate masterclass.

Needless to say, we learned a fair bit during our beachside excursion. As it turns out, Libre L’Eau Nue is no ordinary scent. Rather, it’s a full-blown sensorial experience, bottled in an elegant white ceramic flacon. Keen to learn more? We’re thrilled to share. Ahead, we’ve rounded up five surprising things we learned about the new YSL Beauty Libre L’Eau Nue for you to peruse:

1. It’s pronounced “LEEB-ruh”

Not “Lee-bray”, not “Lee-bree”—it’s Libre. And, if you’re no good at rolling your ‘r’s like the French, just “Leeb” will suffice!

2. It’s a Mediterranean-inspired scent

Libre L’Eau Nue’s radiant silage has been designed to evoke the image of long Mediterranean summers—full of juicy citrus and vibrant florals. With notes of green mandarin and bergamot elevating Libre’s signature heart of orange blossom and lavender, it’s a unique scent that’s perfect for the upcoming summer season.

3. It’s alcohol-free

Libre L’Eau Nue is the first alcohol-free fragrance from YSL Beauty, and its texture is unlike any other. The fragrance is an oil-in-water solution that beautifies the complexion as it scents it. Enriched with the exclusive vegetal extract of Moroccan orange blossoms from YSL’s Ourika Community Gardens, its non-sticky drydown leaves a radiant and comforting veil over the skin.

4. You can wear it in more than one way

Because of its unique formulation and texture, the fragrance is made to be applied in a few different ways. The first is the most straightforward, where you can just use it as a regular perfume. To get a well-diffused, fine mist, simply spray the fragrance from 30cm onto the pulse points and allow it to dry down.

The second way is as a caring mist—spritz the scent directly onto areas you would like to enhance and rub in the formulation with your hands for a subtle glow.

Finally, our favourite way to wear the fragrance is as a hair mist. The best way to scent your tresses with Libre L’Eau Nue is to spray it on your hands or directly onto your strands and then disperse the product through your lengths with your fingers.

5. It’s perfect for sensitive skin

Because the formulation is alcohol-free, Libre L’Eau Nue is more gentle on the skin and ideal for those with sensitivities to traditional perfumes. Plus, its light, hydrating texture helps to nourish and soothe the skin further for an indulgent scent experience.
