If unparalleled movement, precision and fit are what you look for in a running shoe, then the Adidas UltraBoost or UltraBoost X could be what you want to lace up in. The brand’s latest SS18 releases get updated with new features inspired by the best offerings of previous UltraBoost models. A mash up of the old and new, if you may.
For this season’s UltraBoost, runners will appreciate that the ventilation holes from the original UltraBoost have returned to the upper. Thus, offering breathability to the foot’s key sweat zones—namely the cage and forefoot. An important feature for hot days and sticky nights. This is supported by the newly developed PrimeKnit material that offers runners a prime fit and greater support. The Fit Counter positioned within the heel enables freedom of movement while the built-in Boost midsole provides adaptability, cushioning and energy return.
The newest UltraBoost X draws from the UltraBoost Uncaged and the adizero Sub2 running silhouette – whereby you’ll find the cage and support features adapted to the inside, giving it a sleeker look. What we like about this is the Adaptive Arch that allows the PrimeKnit upper to mould to our feet and get in sync with our running style. Based on our previous experience with the Adidas UltraBoost X, the latest reiteration has a bit more room so the widest part of the feet doesn’t feel too snugged. The ‘smart arch’ is complemented by the Boost midsole for the extra support and cushioning as we pound the pavement.
A comfortable bounce indeed as experienced during a recent Adidas Runners Kuala Lumpur run around Tasik Titiwangsa. We had the pleasure (or was it pain?) to take this bad boy for a 5km quickie and trust us, you’ll definitely appreciate the cushioned support as your legs get lethargic from every step. The 3D sculpted heel counter too worked its magic to keep our horizontal movements to a minimum, preventing us from the risk of injuries. All in all, we had a good workout in the Adidas UltraBoost X.
Adidas UltraBoost comes in two colourways for men and women, while the UltraBoost X is available in grey and a blue heel counter. Priced at RM850.
