Now that’s commitment: East Malaysian singer Mayabayu gets inked while performing ‘Hot Girl Summer.’
If you’re not familiar with local pop singer-songwriter and producer Mayabayu, here’s a pretty memorable introduction. The East Malaysian artist took to Instagram last week to surprise her fans—live from the tattoo parlour!
In celebration of getting over a hundred pre-saves on her recent singles, ‘Things I Can’t Forget.’ and ‘Hot Girl Summer.’, the singer took to the platform to share a once-in-a-lifetime performance as she got a ‘Heartbreak Hotel’-themed tattoo (inspired by her upcoming EP of the same name).
The singer is no stranger to getting inked up (as evidenced by the plentiful designs that adorn her arms), but that does not mean that the process gets any more painless. In her exact words: “Sakit!” Still, she knocks the performance out of the park, even if there were a few winces in between verses.
Better yet, her brand-new ink looks great! The words ‘Heartbreak Hotel’ overlays a topical bright red broken heart that has been framed with flowers. The design and execution come courtesy of local artist Rynny Elf, who is based at the Wayang Kulit Tatu Studio in Subang.
