It may not seem like it, but Kuala Lumpur is steadily becoming a formidable concert hub, if our concert calendar is anything to go by. From K-pop sensation BTS to British rock band Coldplay, the city is firmly on the map for international touring artists. Each of those sold-out shows points to one exciting trend: a growing appetite among local audiences for live music. Giving the fans exactly what they’ve been asking for, The Exchange TRX is hosting the Arts & Music Festival at Market Lane, bringing together the creative scene’s best and brightest. Happening from 10 April to 3 May 2026, this month-long event threads art, music, fashion, and lifestyle experiences into one seamless experience. Here’s what you can expect at the festival and why you might want to get in on the action.

LIVE PERFORMANCES

What’s a music festival without good music? That is why The Exchange TRX has curated an amazing lineup of homegrown talents to man the main stage. Think emerging musicians like Malay Girl Digital, David Soh, and Laura Munan. Trust that these local acts, whose eargasmic songs will surely earn spots in your playlists, will get you in the mood for singing and dancing. Stellar live performances are all but guaranteed. PS: No two weekends are the same, so plan your itinerary accordingly. Or just come for all of them!

SATELLITE ACTIVATIONS  

If more convincing is needed, the roster of satellite activations might tickle your fancy. These lively showcases carry the tunes across The Exchange TRX. Whether it’s the cultural performances by energetic dance troupes or the stripped-down entertainment by passionate buskers, which you may find at either Raintree Plaza or the MRT entrance, these roaming “musical wayfinders” will put a spring in your step. Who knows, the vibe might have you shaking and shimmying toward Market Lane. We know we did.

ART INSTALLATIONS

Another festival attraction you shouldn’t miss is the art installations. One of the highlights here is the 300-metre-long wall display. Created by a collective of up-and-coming artists, this grand visual exhibit is the place to be if you wish to get a glimpse of our booming creative scene. Those who are looking for a more hands-on experience, alternatively, may check out Faces of Malaysia. This interactive station allows you to complete illustrated portraits by adding your own interpretations of facial features and expressions.

WORKSHOPS

The experiential zone also includes a number of workshops along Market Lane. So after getting your creative juices flowing at the art exhibition, we suggest channelling them into something tangible. Fashion lovers will particularly enjoy themselves at the printmaking booth. Elsewhere, a bead bar offers you the chance to assemble your own jewellery, and a fan-painting session lets you personalise paper fans that may come in handy in our current climate. You can pull references from nature, culture, or abstract patterns—your choice!

WEEKEND MARKETS

Now, you didn’t think a trip to The Exchange TRX would be complete without a vibrant shopping experience, did you? For the Arts & Music Festival, the retail hub has curated a rotating series of weekend markets, giving a unique platform to independent brands. The first two weekends will spotlight art-centric pop-ups by Messy Club. This is when you’d get to have your hands on handmade goods and heritage crafts. The last two weekends, conversely, will focus on fashion and lifestyle-driven vendors by Outlet KL.
