Chinese New Year is known to be a celebration of new beginnings and reunions, marked by food that is seen as both symbolic and auspicious. Over at Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur, the culinary team has prepared a dining experience that will check all the right boxes from flavour to setting. CHINESE NEW YEAR 2026 AT THIRTY8

If you’re looking for a celebration that goes beyond the menu, then this one’s for you. THIRTY8 at Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur’s Chinese New Year 2026 seasonal menu will be served with a side of some stunning views of the city’s skyline. Spanning six courses, the meal was thoughtfully curated by the hotel’s Executive Chinese Chef Danny Tan and covers all the must-haves of the festive season.

It starts with an essential lou of a sustainable Petuna salmon yee sang, a combination of shredded vegetables, fresh and preserved fruits, crackers, as well as raw seafood for maximum prosperity in the new year. Those who want to take their tosses to the next level can opt to add some Avruga caviar and eight-head abalone at an extra cost.

No Chinese meal is complete without soup and with this menu, diners will get to sip on a comforting braised fish maw broth. For added flavour and fortune, the recipe includes sea cucumber, dried scallop, morel mushrooms, and bamboo piths. The soup is served alongside some crispy and fluffy fried mantou, which are also known to symbolise abundance and wealth.

For the main courses, the menu highlights the key wishes of abundance and progress with a braised cage-free chicken, steamed tiger grouper, and wok-fried glutinous rice. The braised cage-free chicken is cooked alongside bamboo shoots and roasted chestnuts, which represent resilience and growth respectively. Meanwhile, the crowd favourite grouper is steamed to tender perfection with a silky soy sauce finish and crispy pickled radish adding a satisfying texture to each bite. Meanwhile, the wok-fried glutinous rice is a staple at many reunion dinner tables, acting as the centrepiece to enjoy the other dishes with.

Dessert comes in both traditional and modern forms with a trio of bites: a classic red velvet cake, a decadent raspberry chocolate mousse, and the seasonal must-have crispy feuilletine Chinese New Year cake

While the meal is accompanied by Chinese tea, those who want to add a yamseng to their meals can do so with their choice of specialty cocktail. The series was crafted just for the season, designed to add a tasteful boozy touch to your experience.
