Louis Vuitton x Murakami Collection Returns with Iconic Cherry Motif and New Classics

When Louis Vuitton teamed up with Takashi Murakami back in 2003, it sparked one of the most unforgettable moments in fashion. With Marc Jacobs at the helm, the collaboration merged high fashion with contemporary art in a way that felt entirely new—loud, joyful, and undeniably modern. This year, the Maison celebrates that legacy with a 20th anniversary re-edition.

The first chapter revived the vibrant Monogram Multicolore—a hallmark of the original collection that splashed 33 colours across the classic LV canvas. The second paid tribute to Murakami’s whimsical Cherry Blossom motif, with smiling sakura blossoms scattered across signature Louis Vuitton pieces. Now, the third and final chapter concludes the series with the return of the iconic Cherry motif—bringing a burst of sunshine and nostalgia just in time for summer.

The latest chapter features over 70 pieces, from bags and luggage to seasonal footwear and silk squares. The spotlight shines on Murakami’s beloved Cherry motif—two smiling, candy-hued cherries resting on a lush green stalk—exquisitely realised through advanced application methods and detailed multi-step serigraphy. This playful emblem decorates everything from classic accessories to unexpected touches like cherry-shaped heels on raffia mules, infusing a lighthearted spirit into luxury design.

While the classic brown Monogram continues to define the brand’s heritage, a new white iteration offers a fresh perspective. It serves as a clean backdrop for a cutting-edge 3D-printing effect that brings the Cherry motif to life with enhanced gloss and vibrant colour. This dynamic update appears on favourites like the Speedy, Alma, and Side Trunk.

Another highlight of the collection is the Cherry-embroidered blue denim capsule, showcased on pieces like the Pochette Accessoires, Sunset, and Keepall 45. The playful motif also extends to footwear, appearing on the Romy ballerinas and Maya platform sandals. Making its debut, the Cherry 3D heel graces two styles: the raffia Cherie, adorned with a Monogram bow and cherries, and the cherry-embroidered denim Lily.

The third Louis Vuitton x Murakami campaign stars Zendaya, set against the radiant landscapes of the Mediterranean Riviera. In a series of images captured by renowned Dutch duo Inez and Vinoodh, the American actress and house ambassador models key pieces from the collection amid larger-than-life renditions of Murakami’s signature Cherry motif—perfectly capturing the collaboration’s vibrant energy.
