Met Gala 2025: The Best-Dressed Celebrities on the Blue Carpet

It’s Met Gala Monday—the night where fashion meets spectacle on the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This year, the museum honours the art of tailoring with the theme ‘Superfine: Tailoring Black Style’, a celebration of how sharp suiting and precise cuts have shaped and reflected Black identity through the decades. With ‘Tailored for You’ guiding the dress code, the night called for personal takes on fit, form, and self-expression. So, who rose to the occasion, and who truly owned the red carpet?

If anyone was expected to deliver, it was co-chair Colman Domingo and he didn’t miss. He made his entrance in a custom blue cape layered over ivory linen before switching into a checkered double-breasted suit by Valentino that combined polish with personality. Lewis Hamilton matched that energy in a fully ivory number by Wales Bonner—a look that spoke volumes without raising its voice.

Also impossible to miss: Henry Golding in a gold Ozwald Boateng creation and Damson Idris, who arrived in a custom Tommy Hilfiger race suit and a helmet glittering with 20,000 Swarovski crystals, before changing into a deep red tartan tuxedo—a sharp reinterpretation of the brand’s classic codes.

Building on the evening’s sartorial buzz, Marc Jacobs was tasked with outfitting a few A-list celebrities, each showcasing his signature flair on the red carpet. J Balvin stood out in a salmon double-breasted suit, while Tracee Ellis Ross embraced voluminous glamour in a blush-toned jumpsuit, complete with a matching hat.

Then there’s Doja Cat, who turned heads in an oversized suit with exaggerated shoulder pads and a tiger-print bustier. And, of course, the fashionably late Rihanna stunned in a black cropped jacket worn over a wool bodysuit, and rounded off with a sweeping pinstripe skirt.

Another favourite was Teyana Taylor, who made a bold statement in a custom pinstripe suit, paired with a red padded cape and a feathered tricorne hat, all designed by Ruth E. Carter. Zendaya, too, impressed in a pristine all-white Louis Vuitton suit with bell-bottom trousers, evoking the elegance of Bianca Jagger’s 1971 bridal look. Meanwhile, Jennie channelled Coco Chanel’s signature sophistication in a satin jumpsuit with an overskirt, topped with a crisp boater hat.

While the night was dominated by sharp tailoring, some gowns showcased that exceptional tailoring extends beyond suits. Jenna Ortega, in a showstopper move, wore an off-the-shoulder dress made of metallic rulers by Balmain, fully embodying the theme with a literal yet captivating take. Diana Ross made her return after two decades in a radiant silver gown by Ugo Mozie, ensuring her presence was unforgettable.
