Van Cleef & Arpels’ Bouton d’or is a work of art
A blend of tradition and modernity, Van Cleef & Arpels takes pride in its heritage with a reinterpretation of the Pailette, a jewellery motif created in the late 1930s. Back then, the precious pastille of yellow gold was revealed in various interpretations that had a three-dimensional quality.
Now in 2016, the Maison is adopting the Pailette motifs in its new jewellery collection featuring luxurious materials such as diamonds, gold, mother-of-pearl and hard stones.
The Bouton d'or is made up of two sets of five pieces. Each piece is adorned with a diamond at the centre to form a necklace that hugs the neckline, a pair of earrings that dance with each movement, an asymmetric bracelet, a three-dimensional ring and a generous pendant.
An exceptional degree of precision, meticulousness and technical skill were needed to preserve the form of the Pailette motif and craft the Bouton d'or. The beauty lies in the harmony of the pastilles composing each piece, where they're carefully matched for colour, opacity and overtones.
