Why this Richard Mille x Sylvester Stallone watch is worth almost a million dollars

What Richard Mille timepiece would John Rambo wear? That was probably the question at the back of Richard Mille and Sylvester Stallone’s minds as they joined hands to create this adventurous high-tech chronograph, aptly dubbed a “horological UFO”.

The RM 25-01 Tourbillon Adventure is a testament of Richard Mille’s technical prowess and penchant for cutting-edge design—a sound match for Stallone’s distinct preference for imposing timepieces. Made to survive the most hostile of environments, the case is made of titanium and Carbon TPT, with a mechanism that combines a tourbillon complication and competition chronograph movement at its heart—a new complex calibre that took several months to perfect. It houses a 70-hour power reserve, and a 24-hour display that allows the wearer to distinguish between AM and PM even in low light conditions.

It comes with two interchangeable bezels: a bi-directional bezel with a 24-hour scale, a 360° graduated disc, indications for the cardinal directions, and a hermetic compartment at 2 o’clock that can hold water purifications tables; and a titanium compass bezel with a Carbon TPT cover, complete with an anti-reflective sapphire crystal, antimagnetic coating, and a spirit level at 4 o’clock. Clearly, the RM 25-01 takes adventure wristwatches to a whole new level.

The robust masterpiece is complemented with a sculptural rubber strap in camouflage motif. Priced at a cool $983,000, only 20 pieces of the RM 25-01, making it truly limited edition. One goes to Stallone himself, of course. That leaves 19 pieces up for grabs for you bold spirits out there.
