Buro 24/7 Malaysia x Maurice Lacroix: Inside the unveiling of Aikon
Have you heard the news? A new icon is in town. We are talking about the latest iconic timepiece by Maurice Lacroix—the Aikon. To celebrate its launch, Buro 24/7 Malaysia and Maurice Lacroix hosted an evening of cocktails over good conversations and great company at the watch brand's Starhill Gallery boutique. Seeing that Aikon was set to become Maurice Lacroix's new star timepiece, it was only apt that the event was joined by some of our Friends of Buro, namely YM Che Puan Amelia Thripura Henderson, Lucas Lau, Roen Cian, Carey Ng, Daler Yusuf, Hunny Madu, Wong Chui Ling, Puteri Aishah and Henley Hii.
Our host for the evening, Amelia Henderson, kicked things off with a warm welcome to the guests in attendance. Short welcome speeches from Buro 24/7 Malaysia's Deputy Editor Gwen Ong and Mr. Lai, Brand Manager of DKSH followed, before a photo opportunity ensued with the seven local icons sporting their brand new Aikon timepieces.
After the introduction to the new Aikon, guests were invited to take a closer look at the timepiece in the boutique and enjoy the rest of the evening. To accompany an evening marked by the unveiling of a new iconic timepiece, musicians Julian Chan and Melvin Goh set the mood with their wonderful renditions of jazz classics and contemporary tunes.
Instead of the usual lucky draw, guests were invited to participate in a social media contest to stand a chance at winning the new Aikon timepiece. All they had to do was upload a photo on Instagram with the relevant hashtags (#BuroxMauriceLacroix, #BeYourAikon) and tell us about an icon they look up to. Here is the winning entry, which was announced at the end of the evening:
Canapes and drinks specially prepared by Shook! were served throughout the event. Guests were able to enjoy spaghetti with smoked duck, prawn cocktails, champagne and mocktails, as well as popcorn (in black and white boxes, of course) amongst other little bites. Fotobox was at hand to capture all the fun moments in live photos, and guests also had the opportunity to bring home caricature versions of themselves thanks to artist Vivian.
