Get kitted out in Hublot’s Classic Fusion Italia Independent collection
A perfect harmony – that was the goal in Hublot's collaboration with Lapo Elkann, founder of luxury design company Italia Independent and Rubinacci, Italian men's fashion house in the reimagining of the Classic Fusion watches.
The notorious Lapo Elkann is known for his elegant sartorial style. In working with Hublot, he approached family friend, Rubinacci for inspiration. Rubinacci holds some 60,000 square metres of beautiful fabrics in its archives, where a selection of houndstooth, tartan and Prince-of-Wales checks made it into the Classic Fusion chronographs. These elegant patterns are not only seen on the watches' straps but also their dials. Each piece has a certain swanky panache to its appeal.
"I chose these fabrics thinking about the costumes that we make for Lapo Elkann. I began with the extravagant colours of a vivid tartan with a sporty tone, then a more traditional houndstooth—in the style of an Italian gentleman—that I wanted in black and white, the colours of his (Lapo Elkann) favourite team Juventus F.C.," said Luca Rubinacci.
"I didn't think that it was possible to put wool on the straps and dial of a watch. But, Hublot managed it and the result is better than I could have hoped for. We have achieved a balanced watch, with a pattern effect that is neither too bold nor too light."
The Hublot Classic Fusion Italia Independent collection features six 45mm HUB1143 caliber chronographs in titanium, ceramic and gold.
