A class in precision: Classic pilot watches reinvented

Pilot watches are symbolised by notions of utmost precision and aviation excellence. Here, we witness some of the most iconic pilot watches undergoing reinvention to keep in time with cutting-edge technology and contemporary design:

Breitling Navitimer 01 Limited Edition

First launched in 1952, the Navitimer has established itself as a great classic amongst aviation enthusiasts and a prime example of a mechanical chronograph timepiece. Powered by a high-performance “engine”, or the Manufacture Breitling Calibre 01, this limited edition model is distinguished by its dark grey dial featuring a sunburst brushed finish that subtly offsets the black counters. A masterpiece of precision and technicality, it is issued in a 1000-piece series to preserve its exclusivity.

Vacheron Constantin Overseas Chronograph

Vacheron Constantin’s iconic Overseas collection is created to embody the spirit of travel, imbued with casual elegance and practicality. One of the five new models to be presented at the SIHH this year, the Overseas Chronograph watch is equipped with Calibre 5200, the new self-winding chronograph movement by the luxury Swiss watchmaker. It comes in a stainless steel or 18K pink gold 42.5 millimetre-diametre case, with a transparent back featuring a 22K gold oscillating weight adorned with a wind rose.

IWC Schaffhausen Big Pilot’s Heritage Watch 55

With the Big Pilot’s Heritage Watch 55 being the largest wristwatch ever made by IWC Schaffhausen, you can definitely bet on it to make an impression. Bearing a case diameter of 55 millimetres, this eye-catching timepiece takes cues from the original design and size of the historic Big Pilot’s Watch of 1940 and brings them back to life. This modern-day interpretation is crafted in titanium, with a matte black dial featuring luminescent LumiNova-coated numerals. It is driven by the IWC hand-wound 98300 calibre and will be available in a limited edition of just 100 watches.

Bell & Ross BR-X1 Titanium

Luxuriously bold and cool, yet sophisticated, the BR-X1 is an extreme version of the BR-01, whose iconic square shape was directly inspired by aeronautical flight instruments. Powered by Bell & Ross special automatic movement, this contemporary sports watch displays the beauty of the skeleton chronograph through the exquisite dial adorned with Superluminova-filled hands and appliqué metal indices. The titanium and ceramic with rubber case completes the robust built with a sporty, sophisticated aesthetic.
