Name: Phoebe Philo
Birthday: 1 January 1973
Occupation: Fashion designer
How she got started: Born in Paris to British parents, she was educated in London and went on to study at Central Saint Martins before joining her friend Stella McCartney as her first assistant at Chloe in 1997 a year after graduating. Four years later, following Stella's exit (who went on to launch her eponymous label), Phoebe took the helm at Chloé with her first ready-to-wear collection later that year, giving the brand its commercial success. After a two-year hiatus in 2006 where she took a break from the industry to focus on her family, she came back as the creative director of Céline, and successfully rebuild the brand and elevated its growth for the company.
Notable achievements: At Chloé, Phoebe was awarded the British Designer of the Year by the British Fashion Council in 2004, and once again in 2010 during her second year at Céline. In 2011, she won the International Designer of the Year award by CFDA.
What she is up to now: After 9 years with the French fashion house, Phoebe is rumoured to be leaving Celine end of the year, but the news has yet to be confirmed.
