As fashion continues to innovate, push boundaries and evolve with technology more consciously, one brand is taking the call of sustainability head-on. This month, Onitsuka Tiger launches the Mexico 66 Cactful sneaker—an extension
of its well-loved Mexico 66 line—using cactus-derived material with more than 20 per cent in the upper. An innovative alternative to conventional leather, the new plant-based material is developed using cactus fibres from Mexico
through a production process that aims to reduce environmental impact while meeting the standards established by the Japanese fashion brand. Aside from being soft and ultra-lightweight, the rest of the shoe also contains a
proportion of recycled materials in its other parts, such as the shoelaces. Available in five attractive pastel colours—purple, blue, green, yellow and white—each expresses a unique character befitting the wearer. Ahead, see
how actors of the moment—Amir Ahnaf, Mierul Aiman, and Nadhir Nasar—rock their versions of the Mexico 66 Cactful shoe.
