BURO 24/7 MALAYSIA PRESENTS
Team Buro celebrates #BuroTurnsThree
Dream Team
Our third anniversary is right around the corner—and although we don't need a reason to party, this calls for a celebration! Below, find out what the team has to say about #BuroTurnsThree.

I can't believe we're three! Three years has gone by in a blink of an eye; I guess what they say about loving what you do and never having to 'work' a day in your life is true ('work' being in quote marks for obvious reasons). Buro 24/7 Malaysia literally started with just three of us (shoutout to Terry Saw and Jason Lim), and to see how we've grown literally and figuratively, amazes me. I'm so proud of my team, for pulling off the multiple projects we've worked on, both online and offline, and taking on challenges in their stride. Teamwork really does make the dream work and I'm thankful to be part of a team that shares a common goal and vision—to deliver the best experience on a digital platform. Now, bring on the champagne!
Gwen Ong, Deputy Editor
I read somewhere that the power of three marks the pinnacle of achievement—well then, there're a lot of things I'd like to make a toast to as #BuroTurnsThree. It's a celebration of the little things and big things, of the everyday heroes and heroines that I get to work with, of the crazy deadlines and will-testing projects that I've worked on. There's no party like a Buro party, so I'm super excited for the celebration at the Buro Mansion that will involve great music, amazing performances, and more. Also, I'm secretly hoping to make an appearance in a Wes Anderson movie. Hint!
Rachel Au, Lifestyle Editor
Being known as Buro 24/7 also means having to rush out news 24/7; it's a thrill, challenge and puts a lot of things into perspective. Thinking back on some of the best parties I've been to (it's work), reminds me of the time I went to New York for what felt like a nonstop, three-day party. We hit multiple clubs, and boy, do they take parties seriously. One of the parties we went to had stiltwalkers, a knife- (and rifle!) swallower, and countless bottles of champagne topped with sparklers brought out every thirty minutes. Ah, good times. Here's a hint: our party will have a magical touch too. Can't wait!
Joan Kong, Senior Fashion Writer
Apart from this list here, when it comes to an iconic party look, Mia Farrow's all-white butterfly-masked ensemble at Truman Capote's Black and White Ball is hands down my favourite. How is it possible to look that chic in an empire-waist gown worn with opera-length gloves? While it might be tempting to keep things safe and opt for a classic LBD for our #BuroTurnsThree party, I'm looking forward to seeing OTT ensembles—feathers, deep V-necks, and lamé—you name it. After all, you know this will be the party of the year.
Loh Wei Yeen, Fashion and Beauty Writer
When it comes to a beauty icon who I'd like to emulate, it'll be actress Kristen Stewart—I love how she takes risks with beauty trends and her effortless ability to pull off a range of looks, from burgundy eyeshadow to a platinum pixie 'do. Plus, her smokey eye makeup (that complements her gorgeous green peepers) is always on point. I think she's the perfect party beauty muse for her signature, sultry eye makeup that's totally photo-worthy. I might just be inspired to take on that look for our anniversary party.
Stephanie Boey, Fashion Writer
My first few weeks at Buro in a nutshell: inspiring and empowering. Walking into a full female force is incredibly exhilarating. I'm excited jumping into the deep end of digital, and I look forward to strengthening my voice as a writer as I work alongside the team I now call my work fam, but first thing's first: our third anniversary! This may be my first rodeo but I'm no stranger to the big blowout parties Buro's known to throw. Stalk the #BuroTurnsThree hashtag for live updates on the night.
Tan Su Fen, Writer
What people might see on our social media is all the fun and glamour, but what they don't know are the not-so-glam moments that go behind it—bringing work home is the norm, and long hours to meet different deadlines are part and parcel of the job. That being said, I'm looking forward to our third anniversary party this year—I'm prepared to have a good time with great company at the party of the year (not biased)!
Yi Suen Chong, Art Director
As the art director, my main responsibility is to ensure everything looks good aesthetically—both online and offline. Being the sole creative on the team is challenging at times, but over the years, I've had the chance to broaden my skills, shooting and editing videos, and designing online games, which are totally not my forte. The best part of my job? That everyone in the team respects each other, and work well together—I find that very empowering.

Rachel Chong, General Manager of Sales and Marketing
My goal is for Buro 24/7 to continue our lead as the leading luxury content platform in Malaysia, where people are inspired by what we do. We have a unique voice in the online luxury space that sets us apart from conventional media. Marching into year three, I must say that I am extremely proud of the team—one of the most motivating and satisfying part of my job is seeing how everyone has grown from when they first started. With clear vision and great passion, nothing is impossible. I can't wait for you to experience #BuroTurnsThree!
Richelle Lim, Sales Manager
My job is a bit like solving a jigsaw puzzle—I try to combine the needs of our clients with what Buro 24/7 can offer, while keeping in mind the constant evolution of digital advertising in Malaysia. I look forward to seeing how each project or campaign unfolds, from the initial brainstorming session to when the story is published. Each project is unique, and the end result would not be possible without the wonderful and talented team that I'm blessed to be a part of.
Angel Yau, Project Manager
As the Project Manager, I act as the link between the team and our clients, so being organised and being able to multitask are two important qualities to have—all aspects of a project have to be communicated effectively to both parties. Part of my job sees me on set with the editorial team for countless shoots. When I first joined Buro, a hairstylist mistook me as the talent for the shoot and wanted to get started with my hair—it's my favourite story to tell till this day.
Abigail Ngai, Assistant Marketing Manager
This is the second anniversary that I am a part of, but when it comes to all our events, the challenges are similar—how are we going to create something new and exciting for our audience? That being said, I'm very proud of what we've come up with for #BuroTurnsThree; if last year's anniversary event is any indication, the feeling of seeing everything come together beautifully after many months of planning is indescribable. Counting down the days to our biggest party of the year!
Loke Weng Yan, Senior Marketing Executive
If I can invite anyone to our #BuroTurnsThree party, it'll be two of my favourite stars at the moment. Firstly, G-Dragon. I've been a fan since his debut with Big Bang, and if he wasn't serving in the army, schedule and budget constraints aside, he will most definitely be on my suggested performer's list. The next guest will be South Korean It-girl and influencer, Irene Kim—you can count on her to serve up some head-turning party-ready looks, perfect for our Buro Mansion.
Valerie Liew, Project Executive
When I first joined the team, I felt really intimidated as I was tasked to take on projects I thought were beyond my capabilities. But the spirit of teamwork pushed me to grow and realise that I'm actually capable of so much more. The past three months have been quite eye-opening for me as everyone on the team works so efficiently, and are able to get work done anywhere and at anytime of day. That aside, seeing how the team was so confident in front of the camera during our #BuroTurnsThree photoshoot was very admirable—and I love the end result.
Stay tuned for live updates from the Buro Mansion on Thursday, 26 July 2018 on our Instagram and Facebook page.
