Whether you’re there for a staycation or to eat and drink, here’s what you can do at W Kuala Lumpur

It’s been well over a month since the opening of W Kuala Lumpur and already it has seen a slew of weddings, guests and diners. Taking inspiration from the surrounding concrete jungle and canopies of green a few streets away, the hotel combines the best of both worlds, in terms of service, location and design, while maintaining the element of fun that the W brand is so proud of since its conception. The good news is that you don’t have to stay the night to appreciate the W spirit. Here are some of the things you can do at W Kuala Lumpur.
1. STAY

But if you do decide to have a staycation, know that W Kuala Lumpur offers 150 stylish guest rooms and suites, including two WOW suites and the Extreme WOW suite. The latter being the brand’s lavish take on the traditional presidential suite with a living space of over 520 sq meters. All of these rooms and suites are splashed with the Jungle City narrative and traditional accents such as the indigenous bedside chandeliers and batik motifs.
2. DINE
For those who are always on the lookout for someplace new to eat — which Malaysian isn’t? — there are three places to choose from within W Kuala Lumpur. One is the all-day dining restaurant with a farm to flock philosophy, Flock, where diners can be spoilt for choice with local and Western specialities. Next is Yen, where traditional Cantonese recipes and fresh seafood are given a contemporary take. Last, but not least, indulge your appetites at Saint Pierre, a Michelin-starred modern French eatery from Singapore.
3. DRINK
The nightlife scene equally welcomes three new additions: WooBar, a chic all-day social space offering inventive bar bites and meticulously crafted cocktails; Wet Deck, a pool bar featuring creative concoctions paired with breathtaking views of the Petronas Twin Towers; and Wicked, the latest VIP club in town.
4. RELAX
Yes, W Kuala Lumpur has a spa and it’s unlike any other. Aptly called Away Spa, you’ll enter seeing a neon glow in any of the five treatment rooms and leave with a rejuvenated glow, evident on your face, body and mind. You can also soak in the vitality pools, enjoy chroma-therapy steam baths, bio infrared saunas and its signature tropical experience showers. For extra head-to-toe pampering, Beauty Bar by 176 Avenue offers manicures and pedicures, as well as hair and eyelash extension services.
5. W INSIDER
One of the things that set the W brand apart is the appointment of W Insiders. Different from your usual concierge services, they’re the ones who live and breathe the What’s New/Next spirit. As singer Meliha Faisal, one of the representatives for the local W Insiders, explained, “It’s all about having that amazing connection with your city and being able to let somebody else experience that through what we call insider access. It’s about personalising moments. The Insider is basically your best friend at the hotel.” When asked where are some of the best hidden gems in the city, she answered, “I personally love venues that are a little hard to find as it makes them a lot more fun. Two of my favourites are Drift, Dining & Bar and Mr. Chew’s Chino Latino Bar.”
