Where will your next wanderlust take you? Here are a couple of travel ideas for you to start planning for a getaway in August

1. Swim with humpback whales in Western Australia

Whale watching is a popular activity in Australia but an even more unforgettable experience is being offered this August - the chance to swim with humpback whales at the Ningaloo Coast. The UNESCO-listed reef sees around 30,000 of these whales passing through during their migration along the west coast of Australia each year. A hidden gem, Ningaloo is a gorgeous haven that's rich with marine life and the initiative is part of a new government-backed trial, which could become permanent if it proves to be successful.

2. Get to know the Indian Ocean culture at Per Aquum Huvafen Fushi in the Maldives

Start with luxury leather brand Nappa Dori's exclusive series of masterclasses where guests will learn the traditional methods of using thick hide as well as make and personalise their own handcrafted leather belts, wristbands and pouch keepsakes. The resort's tribute continues in the form of limited time treatments in the underwater spa, magical dining nights at Cardamon Lounge and a couple of yoga sessions at sunrise and sunset. But otherwise, who can say no to a Maldives getaway

3. Teleport yourself back to the Middle Ages in Visby, Sweden

One word: Medeltidsveckan. It's the world's largest festival celebrating the Middle Ages where the cobbled streets inside Visby's ancient town is bursting with markets, crafts, re-enactments, music, storytelling, jousting tournaments, banqueting and anything medieval-like that you can think of.
