Unwind on a special anniversary cruise aboard the Belmond Road to Mandalay

You might have missed the boat for the world's largest cruise ship and the first Asian luxury cruise line, which recently launched in Malaysia, won't be setting sail till later this year; but there's one luxury cruise you can still get a seat on—Belmond's 20 Year Anniversary cruise that sails from Bagan to Mandalay in Myanmar.

Belmond Road to Mandalay made history two decades ago as the first luxury cruise ship to sail down the Ayeyarwady River, and to celebrate its 20 years, they are putting together a special five days four nights journey following the route of the inaugural cruise from Bagan to Mandalay on 1 October 2016.

The cruise begins with a traditional dance ceremony and cocktail reception on the river banks in Bagan. From there onwards, guests can enjoy the peaceful landscape dotted by mesmerising golden stupas and the hypnotic rhythms of the great Ayeyarwady river. Then, take a refreshing dip in the swimming pool and enjoy alfresco dining in the newly launched Bar & Grill which serves local cuisine on the ship's Observation Deck—the largest open space on the river.

For those who enjoy a good pampering session, check into the spa for a traditional Burmese massage. There will also be a sunrise yoga session for guests who like to start their day early.

The cruise culminates in Mandalay with the first ever 'Belmond Road to Mandalay Rally' where guests will get to try their hand at traditional Burmese activities including driving an ox cart, rolling Cheroots (cigars), and learning a Burmese dance.

Belmond's 20 Year Anniversary cruise prices start from £3,069 per person including 2 nights at Belmond Governor's Residence in a Deluxe Garden room including breakfast, transfers to the hotel and onwards to Belmond Road to Mandalay based on two sharing Deluxe Cabin. Five per cent of the ticket price will be donated to the Belmond Myanmar Foundation to support the opening of a new hospital facility in Bagan.
