The ‘Beast of Dufftown’ has arrived: Mortlach in Malaysia

Mortlach was the first distillery to be built in Dufftown, a place that is synonymous with Scotch Whisky, in 1823. Known for producing high-quality and luxurious malt, Mortlach has earned the the title of ‘The Beast of Dufftown’ from whisky connoisseurs worldwide. Debuting in Malaysia for the first time, Mortlach was introduced by its Global Brand Ambassador, Georgie Bell who describes the whisky as “rich in illustrious heritage” and “the world’s most richly flavoured Single Malth Scotch Whiskies”.

Three new expressions of Mortlach is now available in Malaysia — the Rare Old, 18-Year-Old, and 25-Year-Old — two of which were awarded the best malts in its category at the recent International Spirits Award 2015. The Rare Old Mortlach is individual and unique to the palate with a balance of sweetness and dryness, and is infused with Mortlach’s signature fruit and flora notes, while the more exquisite 18-Year-Old creates a compelling and delectable expression characterised by the fine interplay of meaty notes, malty sweetness and acidity, which was a delight when enjoyed straight. The 25-Year-Old, the finest spirit from the distillery that is aged in American oak casts, pulls together a highly complex and multi-faceted combination of roasted spices while adding an intensity to the flavour with its dense layers of decadent sweetness.

Mortlach uses the same 2.81 distillation system designed by its founders 190 years ago, making each expression beautiful, powerful, and complex in its own way. Inspired by the Golden Age of Engineering, each bottle of this elegant Single Malt Scoth Whisky bears a striking and iconic contemporary-style, boasting structures engineered to protect and enhance the fine liquid it contains with strong lines and generous decanter-style necks.
