Consider it an early Merdeka weekend with various events catered to the occasion

1. Build Your Own Pork Taco Night at Crack Pork, Kota Damansara, 7pm - 10pm, 27 August

Two of our favourite things come together at this event on Saturday: Pork and tacos. You'll get to 'build' it the way you like with Chipotle pulled pork, Cuban pork shoulders, and refillable tacos and toppings. There'll be bottomless tortilla chips and dip, Mexican grilled corn, and a non-alcoholic watermelon aqua fresca drink to go along with the whole feast.

The session is priced at RM69 nett per person. For more information, visit the event page.

2. Merdeka Oyster Carnival at Southern Rock Seafood, Bangsar, 12pm - 6pm, 28 August

It's as the name calls it but there won't just be a wide variety of oysters from around the world. Expect other tantalising offerings such as Cloudy Bay clams, Australian mussels, Loch Duart salmon sashimi and more - all for RM10 or above.

For more information, visit the event page

3. TAP Studio Open House at The Alphabet Press, 2pm - 5pm, 27 August

If letterpress printing is one of your interests, then you'll be thrilled to visit them for a showcase of their prints or even have a chat with them for a project. Or you can join the meet and greet session with their 1960s German vintage press. Coffee and tea will be on the house and you can even get a hands on experience of making postcards with letterpress printing.

For more information, visit their event page.

4. DR.Inc Merdeka Market at DR.Inc, Bangsar, 11am - 8pm, 28 August

When there's a special occasion incoming, you can surely expect DR.Inc to host another of their amazing food markets. There'll be Japanese seafood BBQ dishes, guilt-free cakes and pastries, ice cream, cocktails by Coley, and so much more from KL's hottest food vendors.

5. A Sunday Rockaway Affair at TREC KL, 4pm - 12am, 28 August

It's a collaboration between A Sunday Affair and Rockaway Festival as they bring you an alternative music outing with an impressive line up of artists and bands, flea markets featuring indie retailers, tons of food and drink options and a chance to purchase discounted Rockaway 2016 tickets.
