Eat and be merry
1. The 40th Bon Odori Festival at Panasonic Sports Complex, Shah Alam, 7pm - 9.30pm, 23 July
The annual Bon Odori festival is back and you can expect an exciting dose of Japanese culture from various food stalls to a dynamic traditional Japanese drum performance. It's also the best time to bring out that yukata you bought from your last Japan trip and dress up.
Admission is free and gates open at 4.30pm. There is a free shuttle bus service as well. For more information, visit their website.
2. #veloorianCooks X Lou Shang Bar at Lou Shang Bar & Cafe, Damansara Utama, 7pm - 2am, 23 July
We've featured Lou Shang Bar for its unique cocktails before and if you haven't paid them a visit, this would be a good occasion to do so as they're teaming up with the owner of Frontera Sol of Mexico and Guac! food truck for a delicious food-cocktail pairing session. Read: Portobello Stuffed with Brie & Jack Daniel's Caramelised Onions with The Red Lady (a mix of red wine, pomegranate syrup, raspberry, orange and fresh fruits) and several others.
A dish-cocktail pairing set will be given a special price of RM50++. It's recommended to make a prior reservation. For more information, visit the event page.
3. Exercising with knee pain workshop at BE Urban Wellness, Damansara Heights, 2pm - 4pm, 23 July
Learn how to treat the common causes of knee pain and a series of exercises that you can do despite it at this workshop by The Stretch Clinic.
The workshop is priced at RM50 per person and includes personal assessment and light refreshments. For more information, visit the event page.
4. Farmers Market at The School, Jaya One, 10am - 4pm, 24 July

5. RM5 oysters all day long at Shucked Oyster & Seafood Bar, The Gardens Mall, 11am - 8pm, 24 July
Aww, shucks. The oyster/seafood bar is celebrating its 2-year anniversary and they want everyone to join in by offering oysters for RM5 and seafood bites for RM15. At 3pm, there will be a 'Shuck Off', the supposedly first Malaysian Oyster Championships.
For more information, visit their Facebook.
6. Awesome Pawsome Pet Carnival at 3 Two Square, Petaling Jaya, 12pm - 9pm, 24 July
It's not often that the city has a pet carnival going on - what more one where the proceeds will be go to charity, the Lost Animal Souls Shelter. There will be a pet adoption drive, pre-loved bazaar and food (and free flow of drinks)! Feel free to bring your own furkids along.
Admission is free. For more information, visit the event page.
After all that good (and not-so-good) food you've been having over the past few months, it's time for a detox.
