Here are some last-minute style ideas for your events this weekend

Let's face it: when it comes to colour-blocking, red-and-green combo is never the top choice—for obvious reasons. The festive pairing reminds us too much of Christmas, and the last thing we'd like to do is to dress like a tacky ornament. But once a year, the combination which you've been avoiding like a plague will take centre stage at different year-end parties, whether it's with your colleagues or friends and family, and you know what they say: if you can't beat them, join them.

To get in the merry spirit during the most wonderful time of the year, here are some ways to don the classic festive shades loud and proud, by giving them a tasteful spin. The trick? Experiment with different shades, and find combinations that go well together. We love look 1's Greenery shade (aka Pantone's 2017 colour of the year), not forgetting look 7's maroon hue, which was further juxtaposed with a dose of canary yellow. Really not a fan of the both colours? Try incorporating small doses into your outfit, à la Susiebubble's maxi prairie dress in look 3, or Aimee Song's floral get-up in look 8. If you're in the mood to rock the exact shades, look 2's pantsuit ensemble and look 5's leather dress-mules pairing are the ones to emulate.
