Dear 2018, you may keep a few of these — TQVM.

Let's be honest, 2018 got a lil' weird. We saw our fair share of interesting (and questionnable) fashion trends that hit the runway and street style scene, and perhaps would prefer to leave them behind. Here, #TeamBuro gets real about the most-talked about trends that made waves during the year and predictions for 2019.

What is the one fashion trend you're ready to say goodbye to and why.
Platform clogs! I'm all for creativity and disruption when it comes to style ideas but I'll be perfectly okay if I never see platform Crocs again. While comfort is key, I don't think I'll ever be ready to compromise that level of aesthetic when it comes to my shoes — not even for a Balenciaga x Crocs collab!

And which trend do you hope will take it's place in 2019?
Androgynous fashion. The 'borrowed from the boys' trend is probably something I will love forever - I like mixing masculine pieces like an slouchy blazer over a timeless white tee worn with a statement skirt or pants.

Micro sunnies that just balance on the bridge of your nose without actually doing anything else, because, what's the point?

And which trend do you hope will take it's place in 2019?
It's all about sun shielding next season. Look to wraparound styles from Loewe and Stella McCartney, or oversized ones from Dior, Gucci and mega bling ones from Givenchy — style meets function.

There were some pretty questionable trends we saw in fashion this year but the one has got to be beaded bags. That being said, growing up with them at a time when people would DIY it (is that revealing my age too much?) means I don't hate them per se, but rather, I don't see the practicality of them. I like how they look - just not as a wearable trend.

And which trend do you hope will take it's place?
Rainbow, rainbow, and rainbow-but of course, in a tasteful fashion. From Taylor Swift's full-on rainbow sequin ensembles (one for her Reputation promotional poster and another she wore on her recent tour) to Viktor & Rolf's gorgeous pastel ombre masterpieces from the Soir Resort 2019 collection, it's clear that it doesn't have to look tacky.

What is the one fashion trend you're ready to say goodbye to and why.
The straw bag has become the most coveted item this year, and while it's the perfect piece to carry in our tropical weather all year round, there are just too many of the same designs around, and I'm (more than) ready to say goodbye to them. They're best left for beach holidays or the markets — Thank U, Next.

And which trend do you hope will take place in 2019?
One word: neon. The bright and bold trend has seen a resurgence on the runways this year, but it definitely didn’t blow up as much as I hope—and it should. A neon version of Pantone’s colour of the year for 2019, Living Coral, is the perfect hue to start with, just saying!

What is the one fashion trend you're ready to say goodbye to and why.
Chunky, dad sneakers that weigh down an entire look with unnecessarily thick and jutted soles. Why go with ugly kicks when you can opt for old-school court shoes that are versatile and don't resemble giant slabs of rubber on the feet?

And which trend do you hope will take it's place?
The aforementioned court shoes—there's something undeniably classic about a pair of tennis court shoes. But this time, make it pretty (the perfect antithesis to the ugly sneaker) in pastel hues or metallic finishes.

What is the one fashion trend you're ready to say goodbye to and why.
Easy — bike shorts. I tried having a go at it to understand the athleisure wear trend that took the runway and streetstyle scene by storm but alas, I firmly believe the tight-fitting gymwear has reached the end to its cycle. No to embarrassing camel toes and wedgies in 2019, please.

And which trend do you hope will take it's place?
I'm looking forward to seeing all forms of print in the new year. Polkadots are a personal favourite and an easy transition into maximalism. Prada does it subtlely with tiny specks for Spring/Summer 2019 but if you're not one to shy away from print, look to Hedi Slimane's debut for Celine.
