Paris Haute Couture Week SS18 street style: Black-and-white done right

While there’s nothing like a pop of bright colour that gives the simplest of outfits that oomph, you can always count on black and white tones for fail-proof pairings. The Haute Couture Week showgoers opted for the latter. Monochrome hues seemed to be a common theme for many of these street style stars this season, as they were all spotted in stylish layered up looks in the classic black and white. Whether it’s to protest the gloomy and cold weather in the City of Light, or just to keep things sleek and chic, here are some style tips to nail the easiest formula for a pulled together ensemble:

1)    Incorporate different textures into your look for added interest. Look 1’s sequinned number was given a slight preppy juxtaposition with a button-down shirt layered under.

2)    Play with proportions and silhouettes à la look 8 and 14.

3)    The littlest details count. Look 2’s monogrammed leggings gave the striped belted coat that minor print clash, while look 17’s matching striped and checkered separates tune up the bold factor.
