New York Fashion Week SS17: Day 1 Street Style
Easy, breezy, we don't see Yeezy
The fashion tribe has officially descended upon the Big Apple as the first shows of the season kick things off.
The unspoken memo seemed to be 'off-duty model' chic. Showgoers turned up looking effortless in edged up staples of the urban dweller in varied iterations of denim, leather and the versatile white shirt.
The laid-back vibes were also channeled through ensembles that embody fashion's embrace of eclecticism and bohemia. Common styles we spotted were swishy tea-length pleated skirts, vibrant springtime prints and hues, and relaxed fits.
Perhaps the overall laid-back eclectic street vibes of the first days of NYFW is a sign of the future—fashion that trickles up from the masses, a blurring of the accessible and the designer. Perhaps it's but another passing fad. Whatever it is, the galleries above feature looks built upon closet staples, which make for an essential style guide that everyone could use.
Check back tomorrow for the off the runway looks from Day 2!
