Finding it hard to ditch your monochrome palette for the bright and bold hue during the festivities? These street style mavens are here to help you out

Chinese New Year is around the corner; if you've always been the one to skip past the racks of red for easier-to-match options (read: navy blue and white), this is the perfect time to give the bold colour a shot. Whether you'd like to dip your toes in the trend with just a hint of red (lipsticks don't count), or take the plunge by rocking the same tone head to toe, here are some style tips for an on-point ensemble to welcome the Year of the Dog—good fortune and joy, guaranteed.

1)    For a less blaring finish, try donning it in the form of a printed piece à la look 4 and 8. Accessorise in matching colour for added interest.

2)    Red-on-red 101: Incorporate different tones into the mix. Look 7 and 18 opted to match with a slightly darker tone and pink respectively.

3)    If bright red is not your thing, a merlot velvet piece (as seen on look 11) may be the best way to start.

4)    And lastly, you can always count on the little details such as a pair of sunglasses or a bandanna scarf to serve as a perk-me-up.
