Watch: Dior's youngest model talks about her Diorever and what it takes to become a model
When we first heard of Israeli beauty Sofia Mechetner, she was only a 14-year old model who made her catwalk debut at Dior's Autumn/Winter 2015 Haute Couture show in Paris. Amidst controversy that she was far too young to start out in the modeling industry, she wowed us all with her rags to riches story: Mechetner was born in Tel Aviv to a single mum who had to work three jobs to support her and her siblings. To help her family out, Mechetner tried her luck at Paris to become a runway model, but couldn't land a contract because of her age. But she was personally spotted by then-creative director Raf Simons at Dior's flagship store in Paris, later on securing a $265,000, two-year contract with the French house.
Fast forward to the present, Mechetner has appeared in Dior's Spring 2016 show and ad campaigns, alongside Dior beauty editorials for the magazine. In the latest video below, the Isareli teen shares snippets of advice to aspiring young models and a sneak peek inside her Diorever bag. Mechetner is one of the seven personalities for this campaign, including Lucie de la Falaise, Sabine Getty, Lola Kirke, Karla Welch, Loulou Robert and Hen Yanni.
