The best results from Instagram's latest challenge—The #MicroBagChallenge
We're no strangers to fashion challenges on Instagram by now. When we were all first getting used to working from home, there was the trendy #WFHFits hashtag which saw how some of us pulled off our home office styles. Next it was the hilarious #PillowChallenge, followed by the #IrisYourClosetChallenge, and the #MetGalaChallenge. All of which have one thing in common: Using your creativity in the name of fashion.
The next Instagram challenge pushes creativity even further by inviting fashion fans, especially those who are crafty with their hands to design and make their own miniature handbags. This shouldn't comes as a surprise for real fashion followers, as mini and micro bags have been trending and making headlines, with the likes of Valentino's tiny handbag custom-made for Lizzo's red carpet walk at the American Music Awards late last year, Jacquemus' teeny Chiquito, as well as Fendi's iconic Baguette silhoutte reimagined on the nano scale.
In the middle of May, Peter Nitz, a leather craftsman and designer took to Instagram to combine two of fashion's most trending topics, DIY and micro bags to create the #MicroBagChallenge. His bags are all handmade in Switzerland, and uses the finest leathers, in an array of finishes and colours. And based on his Instagram, he's a pro at making adorable tiny bags.
So, what are the rules behind his #MicroBagChallenge?
1) You have to create your own design (ie. no replicas of famous bags)
2) Stitching has to be incorporated into the craftsmanship (machine or saddlestitched)
3) The bag has to be a maximum of 5cm wide.
