Levi unveils its Ramadan 2020 campaign
Raya is in T-minus 10 days! Even though celebrations may not go on as per usual this year, the Raya feeling still shines through. Levi’s, for one, has recently unveiled its Ramadan 2020 campaign featuring its longtime friends of the brand, singers Noh Salleh and Daiyan Trisha.
Titled Aksimu Berbicara, the song marks the duo’s first collaboration, and it’s a “reminder that the goodness of humanity should always be reflected through our actions”. The music video was shot in a local village in Lombok, where Noh Salleh spent a lot of time doing humanitarian work.

Uniqlo Malaysia donates masks and AIRism innerwear to healthcare frontliners
A long list of fashion brands have contributed to the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, and in Malaysia, it’s no different. Aside from the initiative launched by FashionValet and MODA, Uniqlo Malaysia’s parent company, Fast Retailing has also enlisted help from its manufacturing partners in China to procure 10 million masks to be donated to 19 countries and region.
The first batch of 200,000 masks have been distributed to 15 states locally, and the second batch is expected to be delivered end of this month. On top of that, to keep the healthcare frontliners cool and comfortable, the brand has also donated over 12,000 pieces of AIRism innerwear to around 5,000 medical personnel.
Milan and Paris Fashion Weeks go digital
In an unsurprising move, the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana has announced its first Digital Fashion Week, which will run from July 14 to 17. The four-day event will focus on the Spring/Summer 2021 men’s as well as men’s and women’s pre-collections. On the same day, the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode revealed that Paris Fashion Week will go digital from July 9 to 13—ahead of Milan’s dates—and it will focus on film and video formats.

Dries Van Noten’s open letter to the fashion industry
The pandemic has forced the fashion industry to rethink its ways, but after many discussions (and not many actions) across the globe, Belgian designer Dries Van Noten has made a move by publishing an open letter to the industry to overhaul the current fashion calendar. Titled ‘Open Letter to the Fashion Industry’, he—alongside fellow designers and retail executives—said that “the current environment although challenging, presents an opportunity for a fundamental and welcome change that will simplify our business, making them more environmentally and socially sustainable and ultimately align them more closely with customers’ needs.”

Adjusting the seasonality of both womenswear and menswear collections, starting with Autumn/Winter 2020
Reducing unnecessary product and waste to increase sustainability
Review and adapt fashion shows
So far, current signatures include designers such as Joseph Altuzarra, Anya Hindmarch, Wes Gordon of Carolina Herrera, Erdem Moralioglu, Mary Katrantzou and Tory Burch.
Serena Williams is Stuart Weitzman's new global spokeswoman
Tennis icon Serena Williams is putting her toned legs to good use, as luxury shoe brand Stuart Weitzman has tapped her as its new global spokeswoman this year. The brand made the announcement by unveiling its 2020 campaign which features the athlete standing tall on a platform, giving off a message that women have the innate strength to be symbols of hope for their communities. In a statement by the brand, Serena says: “Now, more than ever, is a moment to focus on hope and moving forward. I want women of every generation to be inspired to do so, one step at a time.”
Loewe Pavilion reopens its doors
Shopping for accessories to complete your Raya look? Loewe has reopened in Pavilion KL, and its new store is a work of art. Spanning across 285 square meters, the space features works by three artists— South African artist Hylton Nel; Japanese contemporary artist Shihoko Fukumoto; and Brazilian artist Solange Pessoa—that are integral to the Casa Loewe concept. Step into the store and you’ll notice the brand’s signature and latest designs pop against the backdrop that’s made out of natural materials, from concrete walls to agate stone to wood panelling.
