Cara Delevingne co-designs Balmain's first collab collection with Puma

 

After designing a collection of handbags with Balmain this year, the British multi-hyphenate returns with a boxing-inspired collection in collaboration with Puma. Having been an official Puma girl since 2016, this will mark Delevingne's first foray into designing with the sportswear brand. The 35-piece line of footwear, apparel and accessories will bear striking red on blue and gold on black colourways, as well as bold logos using Balmain and Puma's motifs. The collection will be split into two subcollections, some produced and sold by Puma, others by Balmain, and some that will be carried by both brands.

The Puma X Balmain collection launches worldwide on 21 November.

 

 

Stella McCartney and Mytheresa join forces for a sustainable capsule collection

 

The pro-sustainable and ethically conscious designer has teamed up with online retailer Mytheresa for an 11-piece capsule collection. Known for incorporating men's tailoring for women, Stella McCartney's signature touch is visibly seen with the jacquard jumpsuit, high-rise wool wide-leg pants and blazer. The viscose and wool materials used is said to be sustainably sourced and managed. But other than that, McCartney highlights the longevity and versatility of the collection. She tells WWD, "I want our customer to feel like they can wear the collection over and over in different ways. I have always made clothes with the intention of them being able to last, picking fabrics that we know won't tire quickly and designs that aren't always super trend-led. I actively encourage my customers to re-wear, to pass down to their children, swap with their friends, give to charity shops, mend if broken or to deposit in a local clothing bank."

 

Coming soon: MCM x BAPE

 

The German leather brand and Japanese streetwear cult label join forces to to capitalise on their shared design influences -opulence, the street, music and pop culture- to create a hybrid of their instantly recognisable styles. The collection is a play on patterns, combining Bape's iconic shark and camo motif with MCM's classic Visetos monogram. Look out for the Milo Sweater which boasts boasts the collaboration's logo - a Bape ape rendered in classic MCM tones of cognac and brown. As for the leather accessories, MCM's iconic bags such as the Backpack, the Large Wallet, the Mini Wallet and Weekender Bag also receive the Bape treatment with shark graphics, accompanied with bold logos and animal print.

The MCM x BAPE collection launches in stores on 26 October.

 

 


Prada and Max Mara have announced the locations of their Resort 2021 show

Miuccia Prada will take the Italian brand to the land of the rising sun, which will mark Prada's first show in Japan. The show will take place on 21 May 2020 but the exact show location has yet to be confirmed. As for Max Mara, the fellow Italian fashion house will head up north to the Russia with a show scheduled for 25 May 2020 in the city of St. Petersburg.

 


Annie Leibovitz joins Instagram

 

The famed American portrait photographer officially joins the digital photo-sharing app on October 11. Her debut post features a black and white photographer of her mother Marilyn in Clifton Point, New York in 1997. In a matter of days, her account has amassed to 81.3k followers! No surprise here, as the well-respected photographer has lensed many iconic moments throughout her career. With a wide range of subjects from John Lennon to Malala Yousafzai and Angelina Jolie, Leibovitz's well-trained eye and talent is well-appreciated throughout generations and art disciplines. Let the Insta-stalking commence!

 

 


Roksanda and Lululemon collaborate for a high-fashion take on athleisure

The 16-piece "street-to-sweat wear" collection is a beautiful blend of Roksanda's signature sculptural shapes with Lululemon's comfortable and long-lasting functional athletic wear. The colour palette sees a vibrant mix of soft pink hues, deep reds and maroons, cool cyan and neutral brown for a heavy-on colour blocking collection. The perforated leggings are sporty and chic with a tone-on-tone striped detail. The most unique piece goes to the Inner Expanse Infinity Coat which can be worn multiple ways, converting from a coat to a puffer jacket, and even a light trench.

The collection will be available online at lululemon.com on 22 October.
