Here's to Jared Leto for redefining masculinity

Jared Leto's larger than life on-screen and on-stage personas are a match to his sense of style. A long-standing member of Alessandro Michele's Gucci gang, the talented actor, model and rockstar has been known to make fashion statements on the red carpet (we're still thinking about his Virgin Mary blue suit and floral brcoade stole he wore to The Met Gala 2018) and it's always a delight to see what he turns up in.

The Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman has been on high on our radar not just with his fashion choices but in the buzzing world of beauty, too. Ombre hair and long braids are a few of his well-groomed looks that we've spotted (and envied). Jared is no stranger to gender-bending roles and has been photographed in drag for Candy magazine in 2013. The following year, he won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor with his phenomenal performance in Dallas Buyers Club as Rayon, a transgender surviving with AIDS.

In a time where toxic masculinity is still prevalent, it's important to have gems like Jared, continuing to smash stereotypes with his movie roles as well as fashion (and beauty) choices. Boys in dresses? Why not. Jared donned a floor-length floral dress to the Rock En Seine Festival complete with a fringed kimono in hot pink and sparkly gold gloves. And at the Channel 93.3 Big Gig 2018, the rockstar wore a similar look with cream pants underneath a glittery number with Gucci sneakers to match. Our next favourite on-stage look comes in the form of a lilac ruffled blouse, pink zebra striped trousers and a sequinned jacket, proving that masculinity isn't defined by what you wear it's how you carry yourself, and dare we say BDE?
