NYFW SS16: Vera Wang

Luis Buñuel’s Belle de Jour served as a loose reference point for Vera Wang this season, and there was an evident sense of bold duality in the presentation, as she explained backstage: “A girl who’s extremely controlling and buttoned-up, but in another life or fantasy life she becomes something else”.

Demure silhouettes were juxtaposed with sheer organza, provocative lingerie elements, sultry feather detailing, and daring cuts, without forgoing covetable classics such as tailored jackets, knits, pleated skirts and cropped trousers.

Powerful pops of red and metallic punches in the forms of sequin embellishments punctuated the monochrome palette tastefully.
