This season, Marchesa’s collection was centred around the theme of “a botanical menagerie of caged birds and cascading florals placed under a cascading midnight sky”, with dresses that gradually transformed from black cage-like outlines and netting to flounces of sherbet toned tulle and organza that mimicked feathers and flower petals.
As is always the case with Marchesa, an eye for detailing endured this season with jewelled beading, lace and embroidery on delicate sheer fabrics. In addition to the embroidered floral motif, the theme of “cascading florals” was literally translated into the collection with petal-like ruffles on full skirt trains that elegantly swept onto the catwalk in ombré pastels.
Alongside the extravagant gowns, Marchesa debuted its new footwear collection—a romantically themed selection of 8 designs. Crafted in alligator and python leather, some designs featured intricate laser-cut detailing while others were embellished with Swarovski crystals.
