NYFW SS16: Alexander Wang
A decade of cool-girl chic
Alexander Wang explores a dynamic sense of innovation with his SS16 collection, personalising his take on elevated streetwear like no other.
Celebrating 10 years of streetwear chic and sports luxe, Alexander Wang's show had all the makings of successful label—a celeb-filled FROW, a compendium of the his "greatest moments" of his career shown in a short film, and a collection that took inspiration from his original streetwear roots.
This show saw the debut of Alexander Wang menswear, with full-length overalls and low-rise striped leather trousers paired with plaid tops. The details were gritty in the womenswear: chain link accessories (from the purses and sandals to the earrings and straps), and leather fringing on the most unexpected pieces—a khaki army jacket and a leather bustier.
