Probably the most relevant collection on the last day of London Fashion Week SS17, Marques Almeida‘s very fitting lineup of punkish denim and brocade elements took inspiration from the cool girls of Instagram—and possibly more references thrown in the collection too, we think. Sleeves were definitely on Paulo Almeida and Marta Marques’ minds this season, where leg-of-mutton sleeves reigned alongside bell, tulle and exaggeratedly long cuffed versions. On our wishlist? A pink moto jacket coupled with a slip dress (how effortless), frayed denim jeans gathered at the ankles, and not forgetting a lineup of brocade ensembles that we imagine the next Margaret Zhang would wear.
If sleeves were the hallmark of the above-mentioned collection, Emilio de la Morena‘s would be chiffon frilly trims. Decking an array of cocktail dresses and smart looking jackets were those trims (less is more would apply very well here), but it was decided that his forte in melding the most vivid of colours together made up for it, including a fuchsia and lime green ensemble, a hot pink and coral frock, and a peach dress with a dusty blue lace overlay.
