Elegance redefined

LFW SS16: Roksanda

Celebrating the tenth year of her eponymous label, Roksanda Ilincic played to her strengths for her S/S’16 collection—experimenting with volume, proportion and colour with careful restraint, punctuated with hints of romanticism and elegance (always a constant with her designs).

There was no apparent muse she looked up to for her collection, but merely the “strength of a woman when she’s dancing,” and it shows with the loose silhouettes with subtle polarising elements: this season’s exaggeratedly stiff bell sleeves, silk flared skirts with bold black waistbands, all paired with lace-up Tabitha Simmons boots—entirely on a palette of black, pale blue, blush pink and maize yellow.

A standout was an exquisite, hand-frayed, multi-layer chiffon dress that was frothy and ethereal, along with an ultra-chic, blush pink, wide-legged jumpsuit that looked like it was a higher version of a high-waisted, paperbag pants.
