LFW SS16: Burberry Prorsum

There was an abundance of military details at Burberry: gold regimental buttons, braiding and embroidery done by Hand & Lock: the very same manufacturer that decorates the uniforms for the Queen’s Guard. Coats of the trench, pea and duffle variety played nicely against delicate slips in silk and lace. Monogrammed nylon backpacks were also an important detail: every single model carried one in the final lap on the runway. Perhaps the backpack is to be a new staple of the house—a handsfree option perfect for the techy direction the brand is heading towards. Not only did Burberry recently announce a partnership with Apple Music, but the entire collection was shown to Snapchat users a day before the actual show. Bailey is wholly embracing the digital age and the success of this collection is bound to go viral.
