This season, Michael Michael Kors has us longing for the blues—the ocean blues, that is. The Spring 2016 collection is inspired by two summer holiday destinations: the Californian beach city of Malibu and the beautiful coastal town on the French Riviera, Saint-Tropez. And like the Michael Kors Spring 2016 collection, where earthy elegance reigned, the looks here are imbued with a down-to-earth, pared-down appeal while exuding effortless sophistication.
Timeless and glamorous with a modern edge, the collection features beach chic at its best. Taking cues from the beautiful blue seas of Malibu and the carefree femininity of Saint-Tropez, deep hues of indigo run through the collection in soft, comfortable silhouettes, while classic denims are reimagined in feminine pleated skirts, utilitarian jumpsuits and shirtdresses.
For a lovely juxtaposition of soft ruggedness, clean white denims are lightly frayed and paired with charming eyelet pieces. Similarly, the loose tailoring in the oversized jackets and structured peacoats blends casual and sophistication seamlessly—we love how layering is made easy breezy for summer in featherweight linen and cotton fabrics.
The cool, crisp palette is punctuated by refreshing pops of sweet blush tones, with the pale pink hue making a statement in the form of intricate floral crocheting against fresh white backdrops and sleek tonal dressing.
