Met Gala 2018: What the stars wore
The first Monday in May is no doubt fashion's biggest day of the year, as A-listers and fashion's It-crowd come together to bring the weird and the wonderful from the realms of fashion to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. As revealed earlier, this year's theme—Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination—is one of the most controversial yet. Co-chaired by Amal Clooney, Rihanna and Donatella Versace alongside Anna Wintour, the exhibition will feature "some 40 Vatican vestments and accessories spanning 15 papacies" from the Vatican such as Pope Benedict XV's embroidered silk cape and Pope Leo XIII's bishop hat. Other than that, pieces from Chanel, John Galliano, Cristóbal Balenciaga and Donatella Versace will be on display as well.
The Met Gala attendees this year definitely took on the memo seriously and addressed the theme with oh-so-regal looks that feature an array of religious imagery. The prints on Ariana Grande's Vera Wang is inspired by the Sistine Chapel ceiling, Sarah Jessica Parker wore a gold nativity scene headpiece, and Rihanna shut it down as usual dressed as a (high-fashion) pope in a beaded corset mini dress from Maison Margiela.
Here are the stars who reigned supreme in their ensembles this year:
