Dressed up Fridays: What to wear to a black-tie wedding

By the time we round up our #BuroBrides month this May, all your brides-to-be will already know how to get the perfect venue for a wedding, hire the right photographer to capture the right moments during it, alongside what you can wear if you’re a guest attending a garden or beach ceremony. Here’s one more OOTD guide that will come in handy if you’re attending a black-tie wedding:

So we might be a little old-fashioned when it comes to this rule of thumb, but dressing in a bold, eye-catching gown (read: vampy red) might be overkill for a black-tie wedding, especially if you aren’t the lady of the hour. Naturally, this Antonio Berardi gown checks all the right boxes in our books. Made of black crepe and embellished with macramé-lace at the bodice, it imbues a dash of evening drama in a subtle way.

What other way to bring a bout of Parisian chic to your ensemble than a pair of 18K white gold earrings with cultured pearls and diamonds from Chanel? This selection from the Les Perles de Chanel collection is inspired by Mademoiselle Chanel’s classic pairing of a little black dress with pearls—perhaps the best way of styling an LBD.

This Art Deco inspired clutch from Charlotte Olympia is all you need to amp up the glam factor of your ensemble. Its glitter, mirror, and crystal detailed front coupled with a pearlized perspex body makes it a solid gold choice.

For a hint of colour, put on these strappy sandals from Saint Laurent in raspberry velvet. Nothing screams subtle elegance quite like these, especially with a shimmering crystal-embellished buckle.

The ultimate accessory to have is always a slick of red on the lips. This rich red lipstick from Burberry offers satin-finish pigments in a weightless formula, thanks to its signature blend of rosehip, tea and lavender. Extra points go to its ability to flatter all complexions and skintones.
