New month, new shoes: 5 drops on our radar that should be on yours too

Regardless whether you’re shopping for the upcoming festivities or if you just need some retail therapy to keep up with the latest trends, you can always count on us to lend you a hand. Want some new shoes? This month, the brands have released new drops that’ll give your closet a spruce-up—just in time for the new year. Take your pick from the sneakers, flats and heels below, available in an array of colour and design offerings:

Gucci Tennis sneakers

During Cruise 2020, creative director Alessandro Michele presented three new accessories that took inspo from its archives, and one of them, is the Gucci Tennis 1977 sneakers. Combining the silhouette of a retro shoe with a modern spirit, the new iteration features a distinct white rubber sole outlined in green. For its first drop, the kicks are introduced in seven designs—take your pick from the distressed tweed or cotton piquet fabrics, different GG motifs, and a Mickey Mouse print that are available for both men and women. With the Gucci Ace sneakers being one of the most well-loved kicks from the brand, the Tennis line will no doubt be another popular pick from now on.

Versace Squalo sneakers

Had your eyes on the chunky sneakers that first made its debut on Versace Men’s Autumn/Winter 2019 runways? Good news: The Squalo sneakers are unisex. Inspired by the anatomy of the great white shark, the outsole of the shoes is reminiscent of the animal’s sharp teeth, while the rest of the design is emblazoned with the Maison’s signature codes, including the Versace top-stitching, the logo embroidered on the tongue, and the Medusa hidden in the outsole.

Burberry Arthur sneakers

Still searching for the perfect chunky sneakers? The Burberry Arthur kicks might just be the one you’re looking for. Inspired by the concept of rainboots used at sea, the shoes come in a waterproofed rubber sole and upper, and the round gripping studs at the front are derived from traditional hiking boots-talk about functionality, especially in our tropical weather! The development of the sole alone took over four months to perfect, so with chunky sneakers trend not going anywhere anytime soon, rest assured this pair will last you through the years.

Dior Gang pumps

If you’re looking for a pair of trendy heels to take you from day to night with zero discomfort, Dior’s new pumps from its Autumn/Winter 2019 collection will tick all the right boxes. Inspired by the Teddy Girls—the ’50s British female youth culture that is characterised by sartorial rebellion—the pumps or boots come in low heel and black leather for a timeless yet modern look, amped up with rhinestone buckles for an extra elegant silhouette. Wear it with black socks (à la the runway) for an extra stylish take.

Salvatore Ferragamo Vara flats

First created in 1979, the Vara flats are Salvatore Ferragamo’s most popular designs, and they have cemented their icon status over the last 40 years. Featuring the brand’s signature grosgrain ribbon that’s set by a gold buckle, the distinct detail enables you to spot the shoes from a mile away, while the almond-toe low heel will let you walk a mile (or two) in. The Vara details are also available in the form of slip-on mules and ankle-strap heels this season.
